Should…

???????????????????????????????

Perhaps it is because I am the baby of the family and spent a great deal of my childhood being told what to do. Perhaps it is because I am a people-pleaser and tend to try to be agreeable. I’m not really sure what the reason is, but I detest the word, “should.”

It could be the sense of obligation that the word implies. Or that the speaker seems to know what is best for me? I’m sure part of it is that I am over sensitive.

should 1I have distanced myself from people in the past who have spoken too frequently with that word. It is invasive to me.

Does anyone else feel as repulsed by “should” as I do? What is it about that word that is so offensive?

I think I will ponder this some more, but in the meantime, I would love to know if I am the only person who is so bothered by it. Comment here or on Facebook, please!
