If you are my friend on Facebook, then you might have seen the Huffington Post article I shared back in February about how to feel more positive and to have more gratitude. The article suggested that we write thank you notes to various people in our lives, one a day, for 30 days. I really liked the article, so I decided I would commit to doing so every day in March.
Today is March 11, and I have actually already written 12 thank you notes. I am a day ahead! So dear person who is getting tomorrow’s thank you…. you will likely get it early!
I have chosen to write to the less obvious people in my life. I have not written to former teachers or coaches. I did a pretty good job of thanking those people at the time. I have, instead, chosen those who I might never have thanked for their influence on my life. Some of them will likely be surprised, since we may not have parted ways on the best of terms, but if I hold love in my heart for someone, I think they should know it!
So far, this project has not felt like a burden. The hardest part, actually, is getting snail mail addresses for people. I have sent Facebook messages and text messages but there are quite a few people who have yet to reply! How can I send a thank you if I don’t have a mailing address? (I even had one person question *why* I needed it! I had been to their home, so why wouldn’t that be enough? lol) Still, I hope that my little notes are brightening a few people’s days.
And to those of you who may not get a thank you note from me, please know I do appreciate you. Every last person in my life, for better or worse, has helped me to become who I am. It has not always been a fun journey and it has definitely not always been easy. But it has been worth the trip!
I love you all, in case you didn’t know that. OH, and if a friend asks for your mailing address, please don’t be so paranoid! Just give it!
