I have been sick with the flu since Christmas, which means I have spent a lot of time on Facebook. A lot of time. Way more than usual, which is saying a lot because I love Facebook.
And the theme over the past few days seems to be ‘Let’s recap 2014 and then proclaim what will happen in 2015.” I know that is normal as a year comes to an end, but it has me chuckling to myself.
Back in November of 2013, I decided I had been obese too long and it was time for a change. The process for gastric bypass took much longer than I expected, but here I am 13 months later and truly found a ‘new me’ in 2014! Over all, I am down 75lbs. I also changed jobs this year, so that means 2014 was definitely a huge year for me.
I hope that everyone on Facebook (and those who avoid Facebook) do find what they are seeking in 2015. I hope that all goals are reached and that motivation abounds. Changes are possible with the right preparations and commitment to change.
I love change. As much as some people love routine, I have always loved change. My dad used to say I had no attention span for things and would lose interest. I think that is true, but it is because I just love change! That is why I love short-term knitting projects. Mittens, hats, boot cuffs and the like allow me to be creative quickly! This week, while sick, I have been making sweaters. They are not good for someone who likes change… but because I have been forced to do little else, I am making quick progress. Yay!
Fortunately, I do like some things to stay the same. I am absolutely over the moon with my little house and my sweet hubby. Those things are my constant and my stability. My girls are at the age where they are changing constantly. Maybe that is why I really love teenagers! I’ve never thought about it before, but that is possible. Teenagers are in constant flux…and it means I never quite know what to expect. Change!
As you find yourself moving into the new year, I hope you find joy in every day. I hope you are surrounded by loved ones and that blessings flow on to you en masse.
