Exercise Physiologist appointment

So, I had my appointment this morning with the Exercise Physiologist who works with my surgeon. Her name is Danielle. I had never met with her before, although I had met her. She visited me the day after my surgery. She also led one of the support groups that I attended.

We started with my work out history. I told her about my walking, Walk at Home dvds and the little bit of weight lifting that I have just started to add in. She was thrilled with all of it. She is also very happy with my diet. She wants me to continue with everything as is, but also gave me some strength and weight training exercises to add in 3-4 times a week.

She is super easy to talk to and very much a ‘cheerleader’ personality. I really appreciated all of her feedback. She also gave me the schedule for next year’s support groups, so I can already plan which ones I will try to attend.

The last thing we did was have me get weighed. Instead of the main scale in the office, I stepped on to a “Body Composition Analyzer” which gave me all kinds of cool information. My weight in her office was 182.8 (only .2 higher than what I got at home this morning!). My BMI is 29.5 (I started with a BMI of 40.5). That was all pretty expected. The other stuff I learned is what totally made my morning…

So, the desirable fat range for my height and age is 23-34%  Mine is 26%!!!

I am completely within normal limits! Normal! I realize some say normal is over-rated or even non-existent, but for this particular chick, who has been overweight for as long as I can remember, I wanted to cry. Normal. Not even the HIGH end of normal… the LOW end of normal!

Happy sigh. This has not been easy, but it has totally been worth it. I’m healthy, people! I’m finally healthy. *happy sigh*

A little music to reflect my mood (ignore the darn advertisement!)….
