Masks, Therapy, and COVID

For the last 5 weekends, I have sewn masks. I lost count, but I’d estimate that I made about 1,300. I will make more, but not this weekend. As it is Mother’s Day, and the urgency for masks has slowed, I am going to take a whole weekend for myself.

At least, that’s the plan. I can already see it filling up with chores. Although, I am grateful for Mother Nature’s joke on Pittsburgh… we are forecasted to get SNOW and temps in the teens this weekend. So that means I do not need to put my garden in. As a matter of fact, it would be wise to HOLD OFF planting. So that opens up some space!

IMG_7752I have not touched my knitting since the mask-making started. I sincerely hope I get to spend at least one of the days knitting. I want to make progress on the Irish sweater I started pre-COVID!

What about you? How will you celebrate (or endure, I realize some people do not care for the day) Mother’s Day? Who will you celebrate? How will this COVID-life affect you? Traditionally, Mother’s Day has been one of the busiest days for the restaurant industry. Will you take out?

Finally, I want to address the whole COVID-thing briefly.

Let’s stop pushing for things to open, please. Capitalism pushes us to put work before everything, including our health. I vote NO on that.

Stay at Home. Keep safe. We will get through this together. Together Apart.

Love you!
