We are down to one kiddo. One. Just Louisa. She is an amazing kiddo, and darn-near grown, too. She’s 16 and all legs. Please see exhibit A:
On Monday, Mikey took Louisa for a physical so she can cheer this year. He send me this picture:

His comment with it was, “I miss little Louisa. When she had to sit in a car seat and just wanted candy.” I think someone is struggling with the fact that we have a gorgeous young woman on our hands! OH, and I relayed his comment to Louisa who replied, “I still like candy!” So maybe she’s not quite grown yet!
Anyway, back to the original topic… Mia left for college yesterday. August has been gone since July 8, which means Louisa is now our only kid at home, and I am not sure how this is going to work. For so long everything in my world has been divided up in threes… even last year with two, it was still almost the same because I have Mikey there… kinda my extra ‘big kid.’
Now it’s one. One kid to keep track of; one set of school forms; one kid to take for a physical (see above!); one schedule to know. I think it is going to be lovely… speaking from experience. I truly loved the two years I had with my parents as an ‘only child’ when everyone else had moved on to college or wherever. I think we will find our new normal quite quickly. It also helps that Louisa is a phenomenal cook!
And as for Mia, my newly flown bird, she sent me pictures of her room. She shares an apartment with another young lady in the AIM program. In addition to their bedrooms, they have a bathroom, kitchen and living room. Here is a glimpse of Mia’s space:
She has tons of room for all her stuff! She has all of her pillows and blankets. The kid has always loved to sleep with A LOT of pillows and blankets, even in the summer!
I am hoping to go visit her in a couple weeks. I will update you then. This week is all about getting the kids in the AIM program all settled in. Classes don’t actually start until next week sometime.
The more I learn about it, the more I am amazed by it all. If you have a high-schooler on the autism spectrum, I highly recommend you check it out.
Yeah, so Mikey and I are down to one. It’s nice to not be out-numbered for a little while.
