Something to celebrate!

So my Miabug is halfway through her second week (of three) for the CREATE summer program at Mercyhurst. The first week was bumpy with roommate issues and such, but she seems to be finding her way. I have been checking on her once a day to try and head of any other meltdowns, and it has generally involved text conversations.

Last night, she did something that made me so happy and proud… she blew me off!!!

She was so busy with her FRIENDS that she didn’t even notice her phone, my text, or call! Now, you may not understand why this is a thrilling event. So I will explain…

Since she has autism, when Mia does something that every other teen has done for years, I get so excited!!! This is a huge milestone! She made the choice to be with her peers and this left her NO TIME to talk or text with her mom.

So yeah, this may not be something you would celebrate if your teen did…. but for Mia, this is huge.  It makes this Mama’s heart feel calm to know she’s okay.

Happy Wednesday!
