Words are one thing, but action….

a-persons-actions

Today is a new day and I am feeling a lot better. I guess this blog is a lot like therapy. (Just a hint…most of the time when I haven’t posted for a while, it’s because something is bothering me.) So thank you for reading and allowing me this space to work through my thoughts.

Even with all the chaos of our current government, life has continued to go on. I continue to forget to check the weather each day and I continue to ignore my phone when it rings. Yeah, life is definitely going on.

What I love about the fact that life goes on is that most of what I am surrounded by is good stuff. As much as I feel like I have to fight what’s happening in DC, I don’t feel that way in my own life. My kids, while having moments of teenaged-dom that might make me stressed, are pretty fantastic kids. My husband, in all his goofy glory, is my favorite person. My job is challenging in a good way and school is keeping my attention constantly. OH! And I’ve managed to continue to knit even though the semester started.

Also, the people in my world have continued to be good to one another. I may be posting political stuff on social media, but I see so many people posting about kindness. I see posts about faith and Christ. I see lots of stuff about family and joy and love.

Y’all are truly wonderful. Please, keep being good to one another and to yourselves. Please keep checking on me and my family, but also let us check on you. Please keep sharing your ups and downs, because you are not alone.

Oh, and please keep loving. Love each other. Love yourselves. Love your enemy. Love your neighbors. There is a morning dj on the radio here in Pittsburgh that always ends every phone call to/from his listeners with “I love you.” It makes some people giggle, but most people reply with genuine affection. He (Bubba… what a great name!) offers his affections openly and I have yet to hear a single person reject it. I think it’s a great lesson to us all.

Today, please tell at least one person you love them and then SHOW them it too. Make dinner. Wash the dishes. Shovel a sidewalk. Do it with absolutely zero expectation of reciprocity. I promise it will make you feel better than you have felt in years.

Thanks for reading, dear friends. I really do love you.
