Well, no… not really. I mean, I was fully conscious when the calendar flipped over from 2016 to 2017. What I wasn’t was healthy. I battled a nasty cold from just after Thanksgiving until just before Christmas. I was sure that I had paid my dues and would get to enjoy the rest of winter without phlegm.
Boy, was I ever wrong!!! On December 31, I found myself getting progressively sniffly and miserable. By the 1st, I was truly sick. Again. With cooties. Or whatever. Yuck.

I missed a day of work but then jumped back into things because of the long list of things I had ‘to do’ after the first of the year. (I swear that was the statement at every meeting I attended in November and December…. “We will tackle this after the first of the year!”) Somehow I managed to clear a great number of things off of my to do list. In spite of near-constant sneezes, aches, pains and goo…. I got it done.
Here I am, more than two weeks out, and I honestly feel almost all better. 18 days and I’m still not 100%! What the heck??? What kind of cooties are we dealing with, anyway? I have had many people share similar laments… they got sick and it wouldn’t end. They got sick more than once. No matter what remedy they tried or medicine they took, the cooties would not die!

So, I sincerely hope that you have not been hit by the same evil cooties that hit our house! I hope that you find 2017 to have brought you health and joy. Not cooties. And I sincerely hope that this year will find all of us with increased goodness in our lives. We all need a lot more of that.
P. S. I got all As in my grad school classes so my GPA is currently a 4.0! Go me! And by far, the highlight was my mom posting about it on Facebook. Nothing sends me back to feeling like a little kid who is loved and cared for like my own mommy sharing my good news!!!
