While I sit here in my choir robe, ready early for church to begin, I shall share a little update with you.
It has been three months and two days since my gastric bypass surgery. I get questions all the time from people wanting to know what it is really like.
I try to be honest, without being too graphic. This is messy stuff, in case you didn’t know.
So let me share with you all a little bit of the messy.
Since being allowed to eat actual food, I have thrown up at least weekly. In still learning what my pouch can and cannot tolerate.
I have to use Miralax every other day or things get beyond uncomfortable. This cannot be understated. I almost had to visit the ER to deal with it.
While my clothing sizes are dropping, what is underneath my clothes is changing in rather bizarre ways. I have lumps and bumps all over. No one needs to see this mess without sufficient covering. I can totally understand why many GP patients want tummy tucks and other procedures to get rid of all of this unevenness.
The way my body smells has changed. Think about it: my diet is mostly protein. Yeah. Not pretty. If vegetarians smell like flowers (not saying they do, just an “if” statement) then I smell like the opposite. I’ll leave it at that.
I am walking at least 8 miles a week for exercise. I don’t know how my weightloss would be different if I was more sedentary, but I’m not looking to find out. I’m also trying to combat those earlier mentioned lumps and bumps!
So there you go. happy Sunday. Oh, and my weight is currently sitting at 184.8lbs. That’s 62lbs lost. Yay

Way to stick with it Katho. I truly appreciate your transparency in this process.
As for the Miralax, have you tried doing 1/2 a dose every day? We do that with Michael because he has issues as a result of his Ulcerative Colitis (at least that is what we assume the reason is). Just a thought.
