My Competency

I don’t normally think about my ability to do my job. I earned my masters in counseling psychology with a 4.0. I worked hard and completed 998 hours as an intern (when the expectation was 780. I’m an over achiever.

I loved learning. I loved my clinical experience and being an outpatient therapist. I have always put my clients first.

This week, a lawyer related to a client’s world called both my integrity and my competency in to question.

I decided to look at my resume.

In the last 5 years, I have spent 288 hours to learn how to treat trauma.

That’s a lot of training.

It is my passion and priority.

How dare this lawyer question my competency???

I am enraged. Furious. Angry. Pissed.

I would be curious to see how much training they have had about treating trauma. Because, from my perspective, they are NOT at all trauma informed.

Does that mean I’m allowed to say, “Fuck you!” ???

Yeah, probably not.

But seriously. Wtf!?

🤷🏼‍♀️
