One week in…

It has been interesting, being ‘unplugged’ from Facebook. Those who know me well, and who are also on Facebook a lot, realize what a huge change this is for me. Those who are not on Facebook much or at all might not think much of it.

Today, someone commented to me, “Wow. What a sacrifice for you! That must be really hard!” She got it 😉

Honestly, it has not been that bad. I do feel a tad disconnected from a lack of day-to-day contact, but if I think about it carefully, I realize the contact was mostly superficial.

Also, I was surprised to get a lot more texts than I have had in a while. People actually missed me! It felt nice to be missed, but that was certainly not my goal. I also learned there is at least one person who looks forward to my silly posts and pictures (Thanks, Dot!) and I promise her that this is only temporary.

Last night I was out with 3 friends. They were all enjoying the ‘check in’ process on Facebook. I did not, but was able to see all the posts today. It was fun to follow up to posts after others had commented on them. (Usually I’m the first one to comment!)

So we are on to another week without Facebook. I remembered to change my notifications this time so I won’t get texts to my phone when someone comments on my wall. That was a bit distracting.

In other news, the Chris Tomlin concert last night was amazing. It was such a powerful gathering of Christians, all there to sing, dance and celebrate Jesus. It was beautiful. And yes, I cried. How could I not???
