So tonight, I let a bunch of little things pile up until I was suddenly grumpy. It was not fair to anyone, and I should have stopped it from happening. I did not expect it, though. It came out of no where, as best as I can tell. I have had a very busy, but mostly positive, day. We managed to get a lot done. We made plans for what we need to tackle tomorrow, so I have been feeling really good about that, too.
Then out of no where, I got miserable. It was one little thing on top of a million other little things. I feel bad, still, that I let it shift my mood. I have since apologized, but I wish I had stopped it before it got there.
I don’t always feel when my mood is shifting. Do you? And once I realise it has become darker, I can’t always pull myself out of it. At that point, I usually try to put myself in time out. I need to take that step back so I can breathe a little and allow the built up crap blow away.
I’m going to be sure to pray for all the blessings I have in my world tonight. I am surrounded by amazing blessings. I need to
make sure that those blessings are my focus… not the little things that get under my skin.
Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes! Thank you, Lord, for all the wonderful blessings in my life. Thank you for my health. Thank you for my girls and for Mikey. Thank you for my parents and the rest of our family. Thank you for giving me the skills I need to have and keep a job. Thank you for blessing me with my knitting skills. Thank you for the sweet kitties you have given us. And thank you for another chance to try and make the world a better place for others. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
This happens to me too. Usually because too many people are asking for things at once and I feel overwhelmed. I try to calm myself out of it when I can. I grew up with a very volitale father. We know now that he has problems with anxiety but back then it was pretty hard to understand where his rages came from or why. Especially for a kid. I don’t want my son to be afraid like that so I do a lot of breathing techniques to talk myself off the ledge. One that I learned from Dr. Thompson has you breathe deeply and say calm to yourself on the inhale and flow on the exhale. Another one I learned in yoga has you breathe out with heeee sound. Sounds goofy but it helps. So don’t feel alone. We all get down in a pit from time to time. You just have to find whatever ladder works for you to get out.
