marriage

my thoughts today stem from a post i read on facebook. y’all know how much i love it. anyway, a dear friend was venting a bit about how someone at her church felt that she would be good to teach sunday school lessons about marriage in the midst of her very unhappy divorce. the woman (crazy church lady as i like to think of her) told her to “minister out of misery” in order to teach the class. um, yeah.

so, thinking about her situation compelled me to go looking online for images of marriage and marriage counselling that might make my friend smile. i came across many. the above one is actually a saying i have on a t-shirt (NO i do not wear it in front of my children). how about this one:

the text is a bit hard to read, but if you can make it out, it’s quite hilarious. my favorite line is , “Apparently ‘do whatever the f*** you want’ doesn’t mean what I thought” which is the man’s reason for selling the motorcycle!

or this one:

this grandpa has it right… cause you know, it’s really not worth fighting over! LOL (says the woman!)

anyway, i really enjoyed searching for these images. i hope that posting them to my friend will bring her a smile.  it certainly made me smile! it also had me thinking about my marriage. there is so much potential for both humor and pain in a marriage. shouldn’t we all try to see more humor? 😀

oh, and back to that crazy church lady. so, she is asking someone who is currently suffering, dearly, through the potential end of a marriage. i must assume that the crazy woman has never been divorced. (or maybe never even married????)  the pain at the end of a marriage is something that is not to be taken lightly. to expect someone, mired in true misery, to be able to minister to anyone about that which causes them the most pain???? ugh.. ok, i’ll shut up now. it’s just good that i don’t actually know crazy church lady. i’d be forced to teach her a few things.
