so much going on

as it is the end of the school year, there is just a flurry of things going on! first, this week mia got to go to camp lutherlyn. it is a 3 day, 2 night field trip for the 5th grade. they sleep in cabins and explore nature. she was so excited to go, but ended up calling me the first night in tears, very homesick. trust me, i was a wreck! thanks to many good friends on facebook, as well as a good friend who was on the trip with her (kyle rocks!), we both survived.

mia came home today. this was a great experience for her, and i believe it will now be easier for her to go to summer camp in a few weeks.

tomorrow, louisa has a big ‘famous pittsburgher’ presentation. the entire 3rd grade has been assigned one famous person to research. she chose mr. rogers. we went to goodwill this week and found all the proper items to replicate his attire: a red cardigan (which needed slight alterations to work, as it was too big and had only one button instead of a zipper); navy pants; a navy tie; white button-down shirt; and white tennies that we painted navy. we are going to do her hair in the morning…slicked down like his…and she will be good-to-go!

next week is the big week for soph… she has a 6th grade play on tuesday. they have been working on it since just after christmas. soph has a couple different roles and is very excited. that evening, there is a farewell dinner for the 6th graders and their parents. i am sure that is going to be quite an emotional evening!

next thursday is the last day of school, then the girls have summer vacation. i am not sure i am ready, but i know they are.

as for me, work has been getting busier in preparation for our new fiscal year, july 1st. it has meant a lot of appointments, testing and running around. that is not likely to slow down until, oh…. april of next year? oh well….

and on a serious note, i have been praying all day for a young man. he is in the hospital with bacterial meningitis and it looks grim. if you pray, please do so for him, for his older brother, and for their parents.
