summer camp

i never went to summer camp. i suppose it was just not in the cards for me. having grown up with such a large family, such things were very low-priority. just as summer vacations and travel beyond visiting family. i can’t say that i ever felt sad about not going to summer camp, but i have been thinking it would be nice for my girls to have that experience.

so thanks to meloni and jeff, i have found a summer camp that offers financial aid. it is through the episcopal church and is a few hours away. the camp is sleep-away for one week in june.

i have just finished filling out all the paperwork as well as a request for financial aid. cross your fingers for me. the funny thing, i suppose, is that i have not even told the girls about this. i don’t want to get them excited about something that might not happen. once i hear back on the financial aid, i will let them know. is that bad?

if this works out for them, it is possible that they will get to go every summer. i know they love the movie ‘parent trap’ where the girls meet at a summer camp. of course, those kids go for the whole summer. i cannot imagine sending them away for 8 weeks. wow. but one week is plenty for them to get a taste of being away and making new friends. we shall see….

anyway, so that was today’s project. now i wait to hear from the camp to see if the girls will get to go ‘on scholarship.’ from then, i will be able to fill the girls in and actually plan. wish us luck!
