what if…..

lamarr woodley is one of the many awesome pittsburgh steelers. he has a facebook page, of which i am a fan, that is fun to read. he often posts pictures and banter with other teams. he also offers to his fans many chances to win autographed things and steeler paraphernalia.

this past weekend, he offered a chance to win a pair of superbowl tickets, including airfare and a hotel. yes, i entered. no, i did not win. but while i was still waiting to hear, i started to think about what i would do if i won.

my first thought was to take mike, but he has to work and they have already told them (at his job) that no one can get off, so that would not work. so then i started to think about my friends who are steeler fans…. there are so many of you!

i would have loved to pass the pair of tickets off to my parents. they could have had the bonus of visiting my sister who lives in arlington. but i know my parents would have refused because travel for them is difficult at best. my next thought was one or both of my brothers. i don’t know what their work schedules are like, but i did think of them.

i also considered taking sophia. what a bonding experience that could have been! (although i imagine she would have spent most of the time hiding in embarrassment of her over-zealous mother).

i thought about kim, my passionate steeler fan friend in ny. i thought about karen, with whom i attended my very first game at Heinz Field (and who kept telling me to stop talking when they were playing). i thought about beth. i even thought about my friend dawn who lives in washington state. she’s a huge steeler fan! there’s also another friend, dawn, in cleveland (poor thing married a brown’s fan). and of course i thought of stacey, who would be just hilarious to travel with (although her schedule is often so full i don’t get to see her much). so many of you. i thought of them, and all of you. it was actually really fun to think through all the scenarios. sometimes, ‘what if’ is a fun game to play.

so your turn… what if you won two tickets to the superbowl. who would you take? or would you pass them along? would you sell them? would you try to give them to an american soldier, home on leave? tell me your ‘what if…’
