last week, mia had a very long chiropractor appointment. i was only there as the driver, so it meant i was sitting in the waiting room for about 90 minutes. i played on my phone the whole time and it would have been quite relaxing. however, there was a couple in the waiting room who were very loud talkers. now, when i say loud talkers, i don’t mean that they just talked loud. it was if they were intentionally speaking loudly to each other with the hopes that those around them would join in or comment. they wanted the attention!
loud talkers of this sort really bother me. honestly, i don’t need to know all the details of the vacation dilemma you have. i don’t need to hear you say three separate times that you are a married couple, and therefore can no longer just ‘bunk on the floor’ like your single siblings. it was almost as if they were trying to prove a point and wanted all of us, trapped in the waiting room with them to serve as defense witnesses on their behalf!
i also lump in this group people who talk on the phone very loudly in public places. no, i really don’t want to hear what you are saying. no, i am not going to want to talk about it when you hang up. really, it is not my business and i would prefer not to be a part of your private conversation. but they make it sooooo hard…
now, don’t misunderstand me. i love a little eavesdropping as much as the next girl. you know, when you over hear a conversation at a restaurant where the couple is breaking up or making up or whatever. then it’s fun to catch little bits and pieces. it goes along with people watching. i guess it’s their need for attention that gets on my nerves. i am not here to give you attention. i choose to divert my attention elsewhere, just because you are demanding it!
ok, i’ve vented. do loud talkers bother you? or maybe you are a loud talker! maybe you are just very friendly and like to include everyone in your conversations! tell me your thoughts on loud talking. in the meantime, when you answer the phone while sitting with me, please don’t mind if i excuse myself to the bathroom or turn to talk to someone else. it’s your conversation. shhhhh……. 😉

You are soooo right! I think people that talk loudly on their cell phones just want others to hear them. Once I was in the Hallmark store and some guy was talking on his phone to his doctor telling the doc that he had the runs and that he had some lump up his anus. It was so discusting! I don’t want people listening to my conversations and actually avoid talking on the phone in public.
oh katie!!! how did you not burst out laughing at that man???? it is a shame that people on their cell phones seem to think they can say whatever they want and it’s almost as if they think we WANT to hear them. ick!
