pet peeves

i know, no one is perfect. certainly, i am not perfect. but certain things will grate on my nerves like nothing else. so here are some of my pet peeves, cause i am hoping if i type them out, they will bug me less!

1. people who type in all caps on facebook or in emails. um, hello? did you know that is considered ‘shouting’ in typing etiquette??? ok, so now that you know maybe you will stop. because honestly, it gives me a headache. yes, i am lazy and don’t use any caps, but i have yet to hear anyone complain.

2. people who think i, or my friends, are idiots. someone on facebook was venting about completing a task for PTO. someone had the audacity to post to her, “whatever you do, don’t…… blah blah blah” and her suggestion was something i would not even have to tell my children. come on! this is a college-educated, professional woman you are talking to. she is not stupid, and please don’t treat her as if she is.

3. teenagers with attitudes… yeah. you know who  you are. look, you don’t know everything. you are not going to skate through life without effort. yes, you really do have to try. yes, you really do have to get a JOB and be a contributing member of society. and if your parents choose to support your lazy ass for the rest of their lives, that is their mistake and your loss. you are missing out big time.

4. a lot. it’s two words.

5. drivers who ride my bumper. i even have a bumper sticker that says, “BACK OFF! i’m not that kind of car!” in an attempt to throw a little humor into the situation. but you know what? it’s not funny. you can not possibly think that driving that close to me is going to make me go faster. if you do, you don’t know me well.

6. negative nillies…. you also know who YOU are. yes, there are a lot of issues in this world. it’s a broken world and things go wrong. people are not always nice. bad things happen to good people. i could go on and on. but the fact is that life is what you make it. if you want to spend the rest of your life whining and complaining, have at it. just know you will not be a part of my life. you are LITERALLY sucking the joy out of life and you need to stop it right now. the next time you start to complain, or to point out the bad side of something, STOP. stop right there. think about what you are about to say, and try really really hard to make it into a positive statement. don’t know how? email me. i’ll teach you.

7. know-it-alls…. people who say, “Oh, I knew that!” or “Yeah, I saw that before” anytime I share good, happy or funny news with them. It is a shut down to me and to everyone else. When we share stories, we don’t want to hear how you already did that, only better, faster, smarter or as an award winner. as mia would say, you are a joy-killer. maybe you are not negative, but you have taken all the fun out of what we had to say, ok?

8. scrooges. i promise, this is the last one. i really don’t know that i need to explain this one… if you don’t have christmas spirit, that’s ok. but don’t be pissy about mine, ok? ok.

so there ya go. my pet peeves. i type them here, also, because i don’t want to be one of them… a negative nilly!!! so now that i wrote them down, i can let them go, right? silly me… these will still bother me. oh well…

what are your pet peeves?
