i have been friend-requested on FB today. this is usually something that makes me smile and all giddy inside. yes, i am that person. 😉

but the individual who has requested i ‘befriend’ them is actually one of sophia’s classmates. hrmph…

why does this bother me? let me tell you… sophia is only 11. she will be 12 in august, and most of her classmates are already 12. the policy for having a facebook page is that you must be 13. sophia got in BIG trouble for secretly signing up for a page. why? because in order to successfully start a page, she had to LIE about her birthdate. lie. LIE. this is not acceptable.

now, i see so many, MANY of her classmates with pages. ok, maybe one or two have turned 13. maybe. but i doubt it. and even worse, i see some of mia’s classmates with pages. um… mia is 10. yes, she will be 11 soon, but still. *sigh*

so am i the only mom out there that says “NO” to fraud? i have good friends, whom i adore and respect, explain that they closely monitor their kids pages. i have also been told by other friends that FB allows them to keep in close contact with their children when they are with ‘the other spouse’ on non-custodial weekends. honestly, these are both valid.

but it’s still lying. right? *sigh*
